There was an appeal after verdict of $2.2M that secured a $2.495M settlement after verdict for the client. After the verdict, defense counsel challenged and appealed the verdict as excessive. The appellate courts disagreed and the defense lost a second time on appeal.
Afterward, the defense counsel attempted to negotiate for an amount lower than the verdict; however, Attorney Earner calculated additional statutory interest and insisted on receiving a higher amount because the defense delayed paying the client for a number of months.
Ultimately, Attorney Earner convinced the defense they would lose again a second time and were only increasing what they owe every day. No discounts! In the end, there was a final settlement of almost $2.5M on a $2.2M jury verdict.
